The “Believe Walk” brings a community together with a purpose; to support cancer survivors, cancer patients and their families in the Inland Empire. Stater Bros. Charities & Inland Women Fighting Cancer started the Believe Walk with a simple vision, to create an event that honored cancer survivors and brought support to those who were still on their journey.
The “Believe Walk” would bring together a community with the intent to raise critical funds that would directly impact support and services provided to cancer patients and their families in Inland Empire. It started with the vision that each dollar raised through Stater Bros. Charities & Inland Women Fighting Cancer's Believe Walk would stay in the Inland Empire and benefit local cancer centers, support programs and enhance services that support cancer patients. Through the commitment and vision of Jack Brown, Chairman & CEO of Stater Bros. Markets and Event Chairs and "Inland Women Fighting Cancer" Annie Sellas, Cathy Stockton, and Nanvy Varner all whom are cancer survivors; the first Believe Walk emerged from this unique partnership in 2008. The Believe Walk was immediately embraced by the Redlands Community and it has grown each year and has expanded from the Inland Empire community to Southern California.
The “Believe Walk” has grown from 1500 participants the first year to over 8,000 in 2010. Each year has seen an increase of participation and fundraising efforts by this community. The commitment of the community to fundraise has made it possible for Stater Bros. Charities and Inland Women Fighting Cancer to make contributions to the Loma Linda Cancer Resource Center, St. Bernardine Medical Center “Imaging Center” and Michelle’s Place. These are services that have been impacted by the generosity of the City of Redlands, our Sponsors and the community and this commitment has enhanced the support and care for so many cancer patients and their families here in the Inland Empire.
